“Using Light as you Find It”
Due: Sept 8, 2021 by the end of class
Assignment:Photograph interesting people in an interesting environment with great light.
What’s due: 6 different images of 3 different locations in a jpg file format. (These are minimum requirements; please turn in as many examples that you feel you need to in order to receive the most points.) Also, digital contact sheets will be hand in.
Please "Procedures for Handing in Assignments".
Example:Find a location that is interesting with interesting lighting. Place a person within that environment and make as many different compositions as possible. Pick 2 images that you think are the strongest to hand-in. Do this two more times, for a total of 3 different locations.
You can use the same person in each location but three different people would be better.
Rules for shooting this assignment:Work both indoors and out but make sure that you only use natural light, no artificial light, i.e. flash, incandescent, etc. This means you must work during daylight hours. No night photography!
Procedure for handing in assignment:
1.Put all of your RAW files into a folder labeled “Lastnamefirstinitial_Assign_1”.
2.Edit your best images in the Digital Assist Management Program, making adjustments: i.e. level, contrast, color balance etc.
3. From that group pick the best of the best - 6 different images from 3 different locations.
Note:Failing to meet the minimum requirements for this assignment will result in an incomplete and will be marked down by one letter grade once the assignment is completed.
4. Hand in your files as per the instructions outlined in the “Rules for Digital Critiques” post.
