Final Assignment

The Car as Environment

The Assignment: People often think of their cars as an extension of themselves. With as much time as we spend driving around the metroplex it easy to think of the car as an extension of our personal space. So for this assignment your job is to photograph a subject using his or her car as the environment. A successful image captures a person in the personal space of their car or shows the person and how the vehicle is an extension of his or her personality. Using what you have learned in previous assignments, your challenge will be to try and balance flash and ambient light in a vehicle as well as trying to shoot in a small space. I hope to see something more than just a person standing in front of or leaning against their car or someone just sitting behind the wheel in the school parking lot, pretending to be driving.

Have fun with this assignment and be creative.

The Rules: You must shoot photos inside the car as well as out all the while paying close attention to the environment that the car is in as well. You are not bound to a parking lot unless you think it is appropriate Please use good judgment and safety. NO shooting while someone is driving especially if you’re using flash.

What’s Due: 2 prints w/ jpeg copies -one interior, exterior along with 8 additional jpegs.
(4 additional choices of inside the car and 4 additional choices outside the car, total of 10 jpegs)
